October 9, 2006 After submitting a post to a recent carnival, I'm not sure if it will make it onto the carnival. Why? Because the moderator has rightly decided to only put posts he feels are of a high quality. Since real estate isn't my focus I might not make the cut but I'm ok with that.MORE.

October 2, 2006 Many, many personal finance bloggers believe in the old adage slow and steady wins the race. Many of us advocate index funds. In addition to that, many of us believe that financial advisors and stock brokers are just trying to sell us products (either stocks or actively managed mutual funds) regardless of whether they will improve our bottom line. We all know that the many magazines out there devoted to financial matters wouldnt sell many issues if they constantly talked about the virtues of saving and investing in index funds. Articles with titles that make you think youre going to get rich sells magazines but many of those articles are formulaic. This wonderful post from My Money Blog illustrates this point very well. Check it out.
October 2, 2006 For anyone who doesn't believe there is a real estate bubble, you might want to check out the Wildwoods in southern New Jersey. I attended an auction for 13 properties and the prices were significantly below the original asking prices. MORE. |
April 13, 2006: Inflation is running rampant but I'm not talking about money. I'm not talking about price inflation. I'm talking about an expectation inflation. What's that? I'll explain. MORE. April 6, 2006: Do catch phrases work for you? Check out my feelings about Jim Cramer and his Boo-Yah catch phrase. March 24, 2006: I’ve heard it said that if you quote Shakespear people will think you’re smart. Well these days it seems that all you have to do is mention Warren Buffet and people will think you are some kind of an financial expert. November 15, 2005: A recent NY Times article captures my sentiments about personal finance books October 26, 2005: After a vacation and brief illness (so early in the season) I'm back. And inspired by my vacation is this post on The Good Life. October 26, 2005: Appearances can be deceiving. I learned this while shopping on Rodeo Drive.
