I just had a major landscaping job done and my unbiased opinion is that my house looks like a million bucks. But that’s not why I did it. (And to be fair no one has used the “flaunt it” cliché regarding my house). Like any decision, I went through with this project because I wanted to and I saved the money just for that purpose.
There are other projects or purchases I want to make and, yes, I can afford them, but there simply isn’t enough justification in my mind to spend the money. But how many of us spend first and ask questions later? How many of us would have spent the money on the landscaping then spent more money on something else?
There’s no real point to this post, no aha moment where I show you that saving money is the smart thing to do. All I want to do is say think, think about spending money differently. You can only flaunt it if you have it but you can only get it if you don’t flaunt it.
