I Need A Favor

April 10, 2010
As I mentioned in the post below, I'm looking for stories from people who consider themselves successful. Success means different things to different people so don't feel that I, or anyone else, won't think you're successful enough. The story is what matters.

I believe that how we judge success needs to change. The Donald Trumps of the world, the Warren Buffet's and Bill Gates', aren't successful, they're anomalies.

People who work for a living but can retire at 40 or 50 are real successes. A person who doesn't have a ton of money but is truly happy is a success. Most people who start their own businesses don't rise to the level of Microsoft but that's not failure. None of us, me as the writer, you as the reader, will reach the level of wealth that Warren Buffet has but that's ok. It doesn't mean we shouldn't aspire to it but the chances are a few in 6 billion (there can only be one richest person in the world).

So why do I want your story? Because I'm writing a book about my story, how I reached a level of success that I'm happy with and I don't think anyone really cares. But if I can assemble a group of stories such as my own and include the occasional anomalies such as Warren Buffet, Chris Gardner, Ted Turner, etc. then all of our stories have more meaning.

So what's your story? Why do you consider yourself successful? Please do share by sending me an email. To protect from spam (like that's possible) I'm not including a link but my email address is: info -at- richeobscure -dot- com. Thank you in advance for your help and support.
